pass post

HALLELUJAH!!!

i was just woken up by the best possible thing.. the mail woman just brought me an envelope i personaly stamped and addressed exactly two weeks ago. that's right.. my new passport is here! it is crisper than my old one. there is some kind of tracking devise in it that scares me a little.. used to track american citizens globally. (am i paranoid not to think this is good?)

the front cover opens to an old painting of washington crossing the delaware and the handwritten text of the star spangled banner poem on it.. looks like revolutionary graffiti. my unsmiling and somewhat dark photo makes me look like a terr... the pages are all different with pink and blue renditions of all things american and prideful quotes. it's very cheesy. i used to really like the business-like attitude of a passport. it was serious. traveling was serious. this new passport, while the most serious one i have needed, just seems like a play-thing. there are even cowboys on it.

but hey, it's here! step one is over.. on dec 9 is my appointment at the foreign service offices to get a new visa. that should hopefully go well, since my old one was still valid..... then again.. i don't qualify. so as always, it is a prayer need.

winter wonderland?

ja, da sieht ihr richtig. es ist schnee. es liegt auf dem boden ohne zu schmelzen. und dass ganze in bremen! beim ersten schnee des jahres freu ich mich immer.. als kind in texas hab ich weniger zu spielen bekommen als ein durchschnittliches kind in deutschland. schnee ist toll und so.. aber muss es dabei so kalt sein??

steiger missions/ karlsruhe

wednesday night sandro baggio from steiger sao paulo, brazil was in bremen speaking to the jesus freaks. i got into a really great conversation with him about ministry and challenges and the stuff that has been going on lately. he also works primarilly with the street people, so he could relate. he kept saying "well, you need to be with steiger." finally i said if he keeps it up, i just might follow them to the next city. at tat point, he called over his translator (who happens to be a full time staffer from karlsruhe) and said "this is cate, she needs to come with us."

so it turned out they were leaving the next day for the main german base, and had a spot for me in their car. they also thought there would be a bed available... (on the way down on the highway we found out otherwise). so i spent thursday and friday hanging out at their base, talking to students in their discipleship training school, and meeting with the staff. it felt comfortable.


so they didn't have a bed.. where did i stay, you might ask? :-D well, it just so happens that their base is a thirty minute tram ride from andreas family's house. so i stayed there on a very comfortable piece of dining room carpet (made my back hurt). but bed aside, it was really nice to see andreas and to spend a little more time with his family. they were a little surprised to see me, but very welcoming. his mom cooked saturday and sunday for us. on saturday night we went to a piano concert with his best friend in a beutiful old german style (renovated) barn. it's right around the corner from the old stone church he's a member of......... :-D

got back last night around 1am. and surprise! we have two new guests.

also.. der pass worde nicht wieder gebracht. daraufhin hab ich heute strafanzeige erhoben beim polizei und bin zur konsulat gegangen um einen neuen (ganz schoen teueren) zu beantragen. die frau dort war super lieb.. ich glaub echt, dass die viele gebete vor mir gingen. so nette und hilfsbereite menschen trifft man nicht immer am amt..... es stand zur frage ob ich jetzt extra nach berlin reisen muss, weil der pass so kurzfristig auch wieder gebraucht wird. sie hat es bemerkt, und meinte berlin wird sich die tage bei mir melden ob sie es so in der zeit hin kriegen oder ob ich doch noch kommen sollte. also erstmal bissl besser als gedacht. dazu hat sie mein alten pass photos vom auslaenderamt auf weisses papier geklebt, um dass sie den usa mass entsprechen, sie sagte vielleicht kann ich mir es so sparen neuen machen zu lassen (die sind schon teuer). und sie hat mir keinen gebuehr erhoben fuer die eilzustellung! (sonst waere es doppel so teuer)ach ja, und sie gab mir suessigkeiten aus den usa. so weit alles gut..

jetzt bitte aber weiter beten, dass mein pass bis spaetestens 8.12.08 bei mir ist, da ich einen termin beim auslaenderamt habe ein tag spaeter um ne visum zu bekommen.... den ich an dem freitag brauche um in den usa zu fliegen (und wieder zurueck).

reisepass

ok.. so es kamm gestern raus, dass mein reisepass weg ist.
nun steht dazufest, dass es nicht nur verlegt war, sondern es worde gestohlen.
ich war heut in der stadt und bekamm den handy nummer von der jenige raus, den ich verdaechtige. und ich hab ihm sms geschrieben.

bitte betet, dass er darauf reagiert und mir den pass wieder bringt oder zurueck verkauft. es ist sonst richtiges aerger fuer mich- vor allem wo ich schon tickets nach dallas gebucht hab.

deutschland treff

am wochenende war ich auf der jesus freaks dland treff. dort haben wir uns ueber den charta und neue leitungs strukturen unterhalten. es war schon etwas anstrengend, aber auch irgendwie cool. die neue netzwerk worde vorgestellt und besprochen. ich find vor allem der neue webseite cool (props an corcken) als ort der austausch unter einander. viel will ich ned zum theme sagen, wer es interessiert war eh wahrscheinlich dort (und wenn ned kannst du es auf dem blog vom strukturteam nachlesen).

vor allem, wieder unter freaks sein fand ich gut, nachdem ich freakstock ausfallen lassen muesste dieses jahr. einen wiedersehen von alte freunde und ein treffen von neue. andreas (hier abgebildet) zum beispiel war eine meine erste freunde beim freaks "damals" in hamburg..
